If you don’t know I’m a huge Disney fan by now, then I’m not sure where you’ve been! Sometimes, I like to make Disney themed food. It makes me feel a bit closer to Walt Disney World or Disneyland Paris and I like that!
Last weekend I made these adorable Mickey Mouse themed cookies and I’m going to show you how to make them too!
Now before you ask, I used some cookie cutters that we brought back from Walt Disney World. But don’t worry, because I’ve already found similar ones for you:

How to make the cookies:
You will need:
1. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees/Gas Mark 2.
2. Sift both flours and mix with the sugar in a mixing bowl.
3. Add the butter and mix with your finger tips- you want the mixture to look like breadcrumbs!
4. Lightly beat the egg before adding to the mixture with the golden syrup and vanilla extract. Mix well.
5. Stop mixing when the mixture has formed a ball.
6. Roll out your mixture to your desired thickness (I’m gonna leave that up to you!) and using your cutters, cut out as many cookies as you would like!
7. Put your cookies onto a pre-lined baking tray and bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. I prefer softer cookies, so I took mine out after 18 minutes, but if you’d prefer them to be crunchier, leave them for a couple more minutes!
8. Allow your cookies to cool before attempting to ice.
How to make the Royal Icing:
You will need:
- 300g Royal Icing Sugar
- 2-3 tbsp water (I will explain this later!)
- Red Food colouring (I used Wilton’s food colouring) (FOR THE MICKEY HEAD)
- Yellow Food colouring (again, I used Wilton’s food colouring) (FOR THE MICKEY HEAD)
- Black Food colouring (yet again, I used Wilton’s food colouring) (FOR MICKEY’S HANDS)
How to make Mickey Mouse Head cookies!
1. Chop up 100g of milk chocolate and place into a bowl over a saucepan of hot (not boiling) water.
2. Once the chocolate has melted, either dip Mickey’s ears into the chocolate or drizzle the chocolate over his ears, being careful not to get it all over the cookie! Leave to dry.
3. Once dry, put a small amount of red royal icing sugar into a piping bag with a small rounded nozzle and pipe a semi circle, starting with where the chocolate ends and going round the bottom of the cookie- as you can see above! Your royal icing at this stage should be at a toothpaste like consistency because it’s going to act as a wall for the rest of the icing to avoid it running.
4. Add another 1-2 tbsps of water to your remaining red royal icing mixture to make it runnier and put into a piping bag. Fill in the semi circle with red icing and leave to dry.
5. Once dry, make your yellow royal icing mixture (again at a toothpaste like consistency) and put into a piping bag. Then pipe two small circles onto the red for Mickey’s button’s!
How to make Mickey Mouse’s Hand Cookies!
1. Make your royal icing mixture at a toothpaste like consistency and divide a 1/4 into another mixing bowl. (The 1/4 of icing will be used for the lines on the hand)
2. Put a small amount of the large bowl of icing into a piping bag and pipe the outline of Mickey’s hand on the cookies. This will act as a wall for the rest of the icing.
3. With the remaining icing, fill in the outline and spread the icing evenly.
4. With the small bowl of royal icing, add a couple of drops of black food colouring and mix well.
5. Put into a piping bag and pipe three small lines onto the middle of his hand
And that’s it! Two different styles of Disney cookies that would be perfect for any children’s birthday party (or a big kid’s party)!
