I’ve been so busy the last couple of weeks that I haven’t been able to get round to writing my fitness update, whoops!
The good news is, I can finally say that since I started my new job in March just over three months ago, I’ve managed to lose a stone! So the weight is finally shifting and I’m steadily working towards my goals.
I’m not OVERLY happy with the fact that it’s taken me 3 months to lose 1 stone, but then half of that stone has been in the last 4 weeks so hopefully it will speed up from now. I have a goal to try and lose another 2 stone before the end of August when Dan’s brother gets married, although I’m not going to beat myself up if I don’t quite achieve that.
So what have I been doing?! Well, I’ve been making sure that I stay more active throughout the day, I walk up stairs more (which is great for burning calories FYI), I make sure I walk to the train station every single day (even in the rain because I’m so brave) and I try to walk home from work at least 2-3 times a week.
I even managed to push myself to go for a run! It wasn’t for very long because I haven’t run in ages but it was nice to get out there and at least I managed to push myself to do it. Hopefully I’ll be able to push myself to do a few more!
I’ve also been doing weight workouts regularly to try and build muscle and tone up. I’d just forgotten how much I enjoyed it all and now I end up feeling really guilty and annoyed with myself when I don’t work out. It’s funny how getting started is the hardest part, and once you get started it gets easier to continue!
That’s not to say that I don’t struggle to push myself some days, in fact there are a lot of days where I think “can’t I just get the bus instead?!” but I try to think about how great I’ll feel after and remind myself of my goals. I’m currently trying to push myself to wake up early and do some sit ups and squats before getting ready for work to try and wake me up and get some exercise in first thing in the morning – but I’ve only actually done that twice so far so it’s still early days!
Fingers crossed that the next fitness update I’ll be saying I’ve lost a few more pounds!
