Earlier this year, I realised I hadn’t been to the beach in YEARS. Like, actual years. The last time I had been was with my best friend on our last year of school which must have been 2o09. That’s crazy!
So on our week off together, Dan and I decided to rectify this and we headed down to Bournemouth beach.
It wasn’t the best day weatherwise, it rained on the way down there and kept “spitting” on and off throughout the morning, but brightened up a lot for the afternoon. We still managed to have so much fun though!
While it rained, we headed inside to their Oceanarium, Bournemouth’s sealife centre. It was really nice in there and they have all sorts of animals, small sharks, sea turtles, otters, penguins and so much more.
The prices are pretty good I think, an adult ticket on the day is £11.95 each, but they give you a stamp and you can go in and out as much as you like. The reason we liked this so much is because we knew that if it started to rain again while we were on the beach, we had the option to keep going back into the aquarium so we had something to do until the rain stopped. Luckily, we didn’t need that but it was good to have the option and we did go back in later in the afternoon to watch them feed the otters!
We also headed into the town centre and walked around the shops and then found a place to play Mini Golf! We had wanted to play mini golf when we were in Walt Disney World but never got around to it, so this time we made sure we played. I unfortunately lost, (beginners luck was not on my side!) but we had such a fun time that now I really want to find somewhere I can play again!
The rest of the day we spent walking along the beach on the sand. We did dip our feet in the water but it was FREEZING, so that didn’t last too long!
It was just a really nice, relaxing day which was good as it was Dan’s last day of holiday before he had to go back to work, so it was absolutely perfect.
Hopefully it won’t be another 6-7 years before I next visit a beach!
